A new version of my Leica Lens Compendium will be available shortly. It will be a much enhanced text, covering cameras as well.
The document will be in the form of a PDF file, with high resolution graphics, so that it can be printed on order by companies like Lulu.
Below is the introductory chapter; this one is free. In this chapter you will find a helicopter view of the Leica history from 1849 to 2010 in its cultural and historical context. It also sketches the scope of the book:
there will be coverage of all Leica lenses and cameras, but the focus will be on the rangefinder camera, including Konica and Epson and Bessa variants. There will be an in-depth account of the technical and artistic differences between AgX and solid state based photography.

I have decided that all information that needs updating frequently should not in the new book, but in a separate booklet that is easier to update and publish.
So here you will find a pocket guide with some basic Leica information. In a few weeks a much expanded version will be available.
